A Testimony of Ministering – Brittney Blake

I have a testimony of the program of ministering (formally known as visiting teaching). I know that companionships and people you are assigned to minister to are not by chance, but revealed to our leaders by our Father in Heaven. This became undeniably true with an assignment of an earthly angel that was assigned to minister (visit teach at that time) to me. I was pregnant with my third child and had always looked up to her.  She and her companion always were consistent with their visits or service rendered to my family. They just did…did not need to ask…just served and showed up.  It was something that I needed at that time and it allowed me to take a big humble pill and let them in because frankly, they were not going to leave. During this time, we became fast friends.  I was able to talk openly and honestly with them and a deep friendship evolved. Though their assignment to be my visiting teachers ended, our friendship has not. I know that Heavenly Father put this earthly angel into my life at this time to gain a friendship within the church when I needed it most. We have leaned on each other during our ups and downs that come with this earthly life. We have shared sacred experiences with one another. We have shared hardships, without judgments, knowing that we would be embraced with love and a listening ear. We have been on the sidelines cheering to win or just getting through different earthly races.  Our children have embraced each other with love as well. As I look back on our friendship and what has evolved over the years, there was no way that her assignment to visit teach me was by chance. Heavenly Father handpicked her for me at that time because He knew the things that we both would go through and that we would specifically need each other.  I consider her a sister more than a friend and I will be FOREVER grateful that our leaders listened to that inspiration and assigned her to visit me.
