October 2011

Wayne Woolley, Rochester 3rd Ward Bishop:

Here are my somewhat brief notes regarding the apostolic blessing Elder Cook gave at the Saturday evening session of stake conference on October 15, 2011. The blessing was not in the form of a prayer, but rather given at the end of his talk.

Elder Cook blessed us to be unified and to wrap our arms around those having a hard or difficult time. He instructed us to be loving and kind to others and to reach out to those in need of employment and assistance. He told us that we could be an instrument to help others overcome difficulties and provide for their families. He further taught that we do not need affluence to be happy, we would be able to reach out to our children, teach them, and have religious observance in our homes. Further he blessed us to know that those who are in forbidden paths can be retrieved and those who are faithful will be blessed. I quote Elder Cook, “I bless you that you are good enough, that you can receive revelation.”

Grant Wheeler, Rochester 3rd Ward:

Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles presided at the October 2011 Stake Conference. We were greatly blessed to have an apostle of the Lord come and teach us. The weekend was a spiritual feast, topped off with an apostolic blessing to the stake at the end of conference. I quote the following from Elder Cook:

“This is a congregation that in many ways is similar to those in San Francisco, where I spent much of my life.  I love the fact there are people from all economic groups. Put everything aside except gospel and love for each other is what is most needed. The blessing is that you will be unified and wrap your arms around those that are having a hard time. I bless you that there will be love and unity and reaching out and helping where needed. You will be an instrument with each other to overcome any difficulties from these financial times. Those that are struggling will find a path out of that and you will provide for your families. You won’t need what you thought you needed at one time. I bless you that through respect to children you will be able to reach out to them and teach them and to have religious experiences at home. Those that are on forbidden paths, you will know what to do to help them, and many of them can be retrieved. For those that are faithful and exercise temple covenants, they will receive the righteousness blessings of the heart. If you will go to the Lord and request blessings, you will be provided with all that you will need.”
