Melissa Konkel from the Winona Branch, Stake Conference,  November  15, 1998, Sunday Session

It’s hard to believe that 4 years ago I had a major life decision upon graduating from high school – to decide on a college. I toured some. I wasn’t sure where to go. My parents wanted me to go west, but as I toured Winona, I felt I was supposed to be there. I needed more of a confirmation. I fasted and prayed often. Instead of being excited about college, I was scared. It was like coming into outer darkness. I had lived in a large ward with a strong youth program and would be moving to a small branch, but it turned out to be good for me. Because I was alone, I worked on my relationship with my Heavenly Father. I studied the scriptures and prayed often. The journey has not been easy or smooth. Sometimes I have doubts, but I felt reconfirmed by the peace I felt. Once again, I am coming upon a chapter of my life closing with graduation in May and not knowing where to go. I am grateful for the experiences I’ve had. I know Heavenly Father is my constant companion wherever I go. I am grateful for the gospel.
