From Bishop Baker, LaCrosse Ward Conference

January 22, 2017

My brother, the Saint Paul Stake President, died unexpectedly last Monday. If I were to choose a word to describe what I feel, it is love. The theme for the ward this year is love. Matthew 22:36-40. Growing up, we weren’t that close age-wise; we didn’t interact much. He moved to Minnesota. We started doing stuff together a lot and when our father died, my brother sort of became my dad. When I got the call, I felt an overwhelming desire and feeling to be with my brothers and sisters and have enjoyed being with them these past two days. My brother taught me how to love my wife, taught me how to value relationships. He would befriend strangers. Most importantly, he testified of Christ in word and in deed. Elder Bednar said, “Christ-like character comes in power to discern the suffering of others amidst our own suffering.”
