My Father’s Transplant – by Kim Rackham

All Member Stories, Faith, Miracles/Healing

Years ago, my father was in need of a liver transplant. My husband gave him a blessing at the beginning of the journey assuring all of us who love him that he would get the needed liver in time. It was very painful to watch him get sicker and sicker as we waited, hoping that if something dreadful happened to another family, they would be generous enough to share the organs of their loved one. The doctors began warning us that sometimes they don’t get an organ in time. I began wondering if the blessing was wishful thinking. But when the liver finally came, I realized that the power of the priesthood was what had kept my dad alive in the couple of weeks when he was so sick he should not have made it. I learned from this experience that the Lord keeps his promises.
