Nauvoo Temple Experience – by Alex Frandsen

All Member Stories, Temples, Testimonies/Spiritual Experiences, Youth Activities

The Nauvoo Temple trip I took a few years ago was a great experience that I and the rest of our youth group had. The history of the church makes one really appreciate what we have today. Walking around all the sites in old Nauvoo was an uplifting experience–listening and reading all the stories of that important place. It was fun to imagine the early saints running around and going about their lives in these old buildings, not even realizing their future generations would give rise to the strength of the church today.  One building in particular that we visited was the white meeting house for the leaders of the church where we had a testimony meeting. I ended up bearing my testimony and this is one of the very first times I bore my testimony to a group of people. I remember it being pretty short and simple and about the baptisms for the dead we had done in the temple since this was also my first time going to the temple. When I sat down I felt the Spirit and I knew this was where I needed to be and I was excited about the future I would have in the church because I knew it was true.
