From Facebook in early January 2021:

It is with heavy hearts that the (Nguen) Ruach family offer the tragic news that their sweet daughter and sister Nyalat Ruach has passed away while living away at college. Information is pending on how, but it is likely due to complications from her lifelong unhappy relationship with Type 1 Diabetes.

Our Stories of Faith: The Rochester Minnesota History Committee is a small committee in the Rochester Minnesota Stake gathering faith-building experiences from our members in a compilation called Our Stories of Faith: How We Came to Know Our Savior and adding these stories to this (Friends of Rochester, MN Stake) website.

One of the ways we gather stories is by searching through the Stake History binders and then asking contributors if we can include these in Our Stories of Faith. Stephani Price, a member of the history committee, was given the 2015 Stake History binder, went through it, and then asked permission to use people’s stories. She reached out to Nya to ask if we could include her story from Young Womens camp. Nya gave her permission.

Nya’s story from the 2015 Stake History binder:

The experience was at Young Women’s camp in 2015, I believe.  I had been praying for Heavenly Father to show me His care for me, as I was having trouble gathering my own testimony about His love.  While on the hike, the young women had to walk through a river that I ended up falling in.  After my fall, we continued walking and I didn’t realize I had lost my glasses in the fall.  A leader and I went back to retrieve them and she told me to kneel in the water and pray.  After doing so, I looked in the water and immediately found my lost glasses, even after already looking in the area, even though my vision was blurry and the water was running at a considerable pace.  It strengthened my resolve that God does indeed know who I am and does answer our prayers.

Shortly after Nya’s death, this story was shared with her family. What a gift! I can only imagine what they felt when they read the words of their daughter and sister. I hope her family felt God’s love, just as Nya did in the stream at Young Womens camp.
